Regia for Hand - Dye - 4 ply

Regia for Hand - Dye - 4 ply is an original yarn that will allow you to dye it, creating and combining original projects.

The name “4 ply” refers to the among of threads, which are twisted between them. 

This is a white basic yarn that you can mix with different dyes, creating your own colour combinations, depending on your own projects.

You can dye this wool with industrial dyes from supermarkets, food or natural dyes such as tea or vegetables, soft drinks or juices ... You can use this dyeing technique as an original craft that you can carry out even with the little ones.

How should this wool be dyed?

You must follow different procedures, depending on the product you want you dye the wool. As a general rule, the steps to follow are:

• Fill a pan with water and pour the colouring. The product should boil between 25-30 minutes.
• The wool should be rinsed with white vinegar, which will help to prepare the fabric to receive the dye.
• When the water stops boiling, pour the rinsed wool into the dye and put the pan to boil again. A cover should be placed so that the dye does not evaporate. Let boil about 30 minutes or until the wool has a darker colour.
• Then, leave to cool.
• Then, remove the wool gently from the pan and drain it until no more colour is released.

*Warning: all the dying products are different. You should first consult what is the correct way to dye the wool with any product.

Schachenmayr is made of:

• 75% virgin wool
• 25% polyamide

It is a warm, soft, comfortable yarn made of virgin wool fibres that won’t produce any kind of itching, irritation or redness.

Its thin thickness makes the wool malleable. It’s made of polyamide fibres make it more resistant to dyes, washed, dried and ironed at medium temperature.

You should know that Regia for Hand - Dye - 4 ply...

• Each ball has 100 grams and 420 metres.
• Its thickness is perfect to knit with the 2 - 3 mm knitting needles or crochet hooks.
• Mount 30 stitches and do 42 laps to knit a 10 x 10 cm square.
• It can be washed in the washing machine up to 40ºC.
• You can use the dryer. 
• It can be ironed at a low temperature, up to 110ºC.

Amount of balls needed to…

• To knit a pair of socks size 46, you will need 100 gr = 1 ball approx.
• To knit a long sleeve sweater size 40, you will need 500 gr = 5 balls approx.
